AWARD WINNERS

EACC 2007:

Gianluca Iaccarino (left) from Stanford University received the “Best Paper Award“, sponsored by AMD, for his paper about “The Immersed Boundary Approach”. The prize handed over by Antoine Reymond from AMD, was an Acer Ferrari 4000 with an AMD Turion" 64 ML-40 processor.

An animation created by Adam Opel and VRT-Speedbike received the "Best Automotive FLUENT CFD Animation" award. Ralf Siber (left) of Adam Opel gladly accepted the prize, a portable DVD player, given over by Johannes Grawe from Genias Graphics. The winning animation, which shows the flow around and inside a speedbike, can be viewed here.

EACC 2005:

Silvestre Artiaga-Hahn of Adam Opel was the winner in the category "Best Applied Automotive CFD Paper". His winning presentation "Customizing FLUENT to speed-up aerodynamic vehicle development" meant that he won an HP Compaq Desktop PC, sponsored by Hewlett Packard.

The "Best Automotive FLUENT CFD Animation" Award, an Apple I-Pod, sponsored by Genias Graphics GmbH, went to Torbjörn Larsson, Head of Sauber-Petronas Engineering AG . The animation can be viewed here.

A new Award called "Best Use of a Supercomputer in an Automotive CFD Project" was introduced at the EACC 2005 due to the increasing trend to run large real world CFD applications in parallel on High-Performance Computers.

The winner of this Award, an ACER Notebook sponsored by AMD, was Luciano Mariella, Head of CFD at Ferrari , for his presentation on "Strategic choices at Ferrari for Performance and Safety".

EACC 2003:

At the EACC in 2003, Torbjörn Larsson, Head of CFD at Sauber-Petronas Engineering AG , was awarded the "Best Paper" Prize for his presentation about "CFD at Sauber Petronas Leading the Aerodynamic Development". The prize which was sponsored by Hewlett-Packard was a Laptop PC.

Rob Lewis from Advantage CFD received the prize for the "Best Animation" in 2003 (a digital video camcorder). This was sponsored by CEI, the makers of EnSight. Part of the winning animation can be viewed here.
